Course overview
Learn how to shape a talking-head video into a cinematic short that communicates your message clearly. We will combine purposeful B-roll, clean text layouts, subtle animation and sound to create a cohesive edit using Premiere Pro’s built-in tools. The style we will create The speaker carries the story while supporting footage brings the ideas to life. Text follows the spoken message, using clear type, selective italic or script accents, and deliberate placement over the footage. Restrained movement and thoughtful pacing keep attention on the story. What you will learn ● Build a clear story from a talking-head clip by choosing a strong opening, removing repetition and preserving natural delivery. ● Decide when to show the speaker and when to use B-roll that illustrates an action, idea or emotion. ● Create readable text over footage with balanced spacing, strong contrast and a consistent font pairing. ● Time short text phrases to speech and emphasize key words without crowding the frame. ● Use simple position, scale and opacity keyframes to create subtle text movement, fades and gentle push-ins. ● Shape the mood with music and light sound effects while keeping dialogue clear and easy to hear. ● Apply basic exposure, white balance and contrast adjustments for greater consistency between shots. ● Review and export a vertical video, checking framing, text readability, audio balance and playback. The practice target is a 30–60 second vertical edit combining a talking head, relevant B-roll, styled text and a balanced soundtrack. You will learn a repeatable workflow you can apply to your own videos. Completing and refining your version may require practice after the session.
